Job Overview: LUMS is looking for a Cybersecurity Specialist to strengthen the university’s cybersecurity systems. You will work on threat detection, incident response, and security awareness initiatives. This role involves protecting the university’s digital assets, managing security tools, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure safe and secure systems for students, staff, and faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
Threat Detection & Incident Handling:
- Analyze and respond to cybersecurity incidents like malware, phishing, and unauthorized access
- Assist in forensic investigations and document findings
- Refine incident response procedures
Security Infrastructure & Monitoring:
- Administer and monitor security tools including firewall, IDS/IPS, and endpoint solutions
- Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate with IT teams for remediation
- Maintain logs and assist with SIEM operations
Security Awareness & Training:
- Conduct cybersecurity awareness sessions for faculty, staff, and students
- Develop training materials on password management, phishing prevention, and secure practices
Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work with Cybersecurity Associate and IT teams to improve security
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, findings, and mitigation steps
- Contribute to university-wide cybersecurity projects and initiatives
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security, and encryption
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS)
- Experience with vulnerability assessment and endpoint security solutions
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell)
- Awareness of cloud security principles (Azure, Google Cloud)
- Familiarity with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewall tools
- Knowledge of penetration testing and ethical hacking fundamentals
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

- Experience conducting security awareness sessions
